"The greatest wine? The one that you will remember": Wine in moderation establishes international day to encourage moderate & responsible drinking

PRESS RELEASE - Brussels, 06/11/2023 – With the aim to continue encouraging the moderate and responsible consumption of wine, Wine in Moderation is proud to establish the first ever international Wine in Moderation Day which will be taking the form of a campaign: “The greatest wine? the one that you will remember.”.

On this day, our goal is to help empower wine consumers to enjoy wine responsibly by taking part in the first-ever international Wine in Moderation Day.

The Wine in Moderation Day is a campaign organised by the WiM Association to raise awareness of the responsible consumption of wine across multiple touchpoints and multiple targets. Built around the campaign “The greatest wine? the one that you will remember.”, the Wine in Moderation Day aims to highlight the importance of engaging consumers about the culture, the history of wine and in-turn, encourage and empower consumers to make responsible choices and enjoy wine in moderation.

Indeed, wine culture means above all knowing how to say no to excess. Knowing how to make every occasion memorable, to enhance the very value of the experience and of the wine that is being consumed - a moment to remember; a concept summed up in “The greatest wine? The one that you will remember.”. The campaign will consist of a range of PR and promotional activity underpinned by a series of events organised at national level by our National Coordinators and Supporters in Italy, Spain, and Portugal, the three countries that are taking part in this first-ever edition.

Sandro Sartor, President of Wine in Moderation said, “As the social responsibility movement of the wine sector, we are fully committed to our mission of empowering wine professionals and consumers to make responsible choices when it comes to drinking wine. And in addition to all the actions we have been developing during the last 15 years of existence of the Programme, we wanted to take an additional step and organise our very own Wine in Moderation Day. The campaign we have put together is built around the culture of wine and its appreciation: The greatest wine? The one you will remember. We warmly encourage professionals and consumers alike to share this message and follow it in their everyday lives. Of course, there remain situations in which drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages should be avoided, for more information, we invite everyone to visit our website”.

The campaign which will be active in Italy, Spain, and Portugal, will run during the second week of November and will peak on November 8th. Every country will organise a variety of activities around the campaign “The greatest wine? The one you will remember.”
