On June 26th, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) hosted the Danube Region Wine Fair, a wine tasting event which was accompanied by the WIM message of moderation and where representatives from the Regions of Bratislava, Nitra, South Moravian and the City of Budapest presented a large selection of their wines.
It is not the first time that WIM supports an event organised by the Committee of the Regions with the message of moderation and responsibility. Together with a WIM associated partner: the European Community of Cooks (Euro-Toques), WIM participated in the official receptions of the Open Days both in 2008 and in 2011, presenting the “Wine in Moderation-Art de Vivre” Programme and underscoring the role of gastronomy in the European way of life and culture.
The event that was held at the end of June was a unique wine tasting event and it was an excellent opportunity to discover the huge diversity of wine making regions spread around the Danube River with around 15 different winemakers present and more than 12 different varieties to be tasted. The event, which opened with presentations of the sampled wines, came with regional delights in order to offer the full wine-tasting experience, engage the wine in its preferred natural habitat and follow one of the moderation guidelines: always accompany wine with good food alongside a glass of water
