Association de la Sommellerie Internationale joins Wine in Moderation

Association de la Sommellerie Internationale joins Wine in Moderation

Brussels, September 7th, 2021 – Wine in Moderation is pleased to announce that the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) joins the movement as an Associated Partner endorsing the social sustainability movement of the wine sector.

Wine in Moderation and the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale will work together to raise knowledge on wine, responsible drinking, and healthy lifestyles within the wine sector. Bringing together the national sommelier associations from over 60 countries, the new partnership with ASI will increase the reach of the Wine in Moderation message among wine professionals all over the world.

Sandro Sartor, President of the WiM Association, said: “Partnerships are key for Wine in Moderation, they support the development of the programme and the dissemination of its message across the wine value chain. We are extremely happy to bid welcome to Association de la Sommellerie Internationale that will strengthen the reach of the Wine in Moderation message among its members around the world and we look forward to working together to empower professionals on moderate and responsible drinking.

William Wouters, President of ASI also commented: “The Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) is fully committed to providing sommeliers around the world with the necessary education and tools to advance in their profession, defend its ethics and become a reference for consumers. We are positive that the partnership with Wine in Moderation will provide further support and guidance to work closely with our members to encourage the responsible and moderate consumption of wine. Wine in Moderation is the programme created by the wine sector to inspire an active respect for wine as a product of culture among people who choose to drink, thereby contributing to healthy lifestyles and the reduction of alcohol related harm. WiM Association

The WiM Association is the international not for profit association founded by wine sector associations and leading wine companies that centrally coordinates the Wine in Moderation programme and expand its reach and impact throughout the world.

 

About the International Sommelier Association

The Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, a non-profit making organization, was founded in Reims (France) on the 3 – 4 June 1969, and has the following aims:

  • To bring together the national sommelier associations (just one member association per country) and to promote their founding where they do not yet exist
  • To co-ordinate actions aimed at developing and advancing the profession by various means (contests, training, exams, etc.)
  • To enhance the sommelier’s profession and educate consumers
  • To defend the ethics of the profession

ASI participates in all events related to wine, spirits and other drinks, and is able to take any action directly or indirectly aimed at its objectives defined above. The ASI legal Headquarters are located in Paris (France) and the association is administered by its Board and National members meeting in a General Assembly at least once a year.
