FEV and the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) launch a master's degree in wine tourism covering social responsibility and the Wine in Moderation Programme

The International University of La Rioja (UNIR) and the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) have joined forces to promote training, research, technology transfer, specialised technical advice and the exchange of experiences in different areas related to general management in the wine sector.

The result of this collaboration is the launch of UNIR's Master in Wine Tourism, which first edition will start next November. The master will include a specific module on  “Sustainable development and social responsibility in wine tourism”, which will focus, among others, on the Wine in Moderation Programme and evaluate how to apply it on wineries’ sustainable wine tourism strategies.

This specific module will be covered by the Director of Communication and Institutional Relations of our Spanish National Coordinator, FEV, Eduardo de Diego, who is also the point of contact for Wine in Moderation in Spain.

In addition to the application of the Wine in Moderation Programme in wine tourism, the module dedicated to social responsibility will address other issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals, some basic notions on wine and health and the importance of addressing sustainability through a global approach that goes beyond environmental issues.

In addition, during the whole duration the Master's degree, students will learn how to create memorable experiences that integrate digital interactions and visits to the wineries, become familiar with digital marketing tools that will help them position their brand, discover how to use KPIs to measure the profitability and effectiveness of campaigns and learn about the attributes that should be included in social and environmental sustainability.
