Deutsche Weinakademie organises a webinar on social media rules in wine advertising
People think of funny, topical, interesting subjects and post them on social media channels - often without knowing that they are not allowed to.
Considering the constant updates of the social media communication rules and the wine advertisement policies, our National Coordinator in Germany, Deutsche Weinakademie, organised a webinar on the use of social media when it comes to wine advertising.
During the webinar, the managing director of the German Advertising Council, Ms. Katja Heintschel v. Heinegg, raised awareness on the political framework, and explained the restrictions in force regarding social media activities, especially to avoid children and young people. As a European scientist and chairwoman of the European Organization for Advertising Self-Regulation (EASA) Ms. Heintschel also gave an overview of the situation beyond German borders, providing a wider context to the audience. For example: wine advertising should never target children or adolescents nor have a particularly appealing effect on them or even depict children and adolescents drinking alcoholic beverages.
Almost 140 participants from the wine sector took part in the webinar. Indeed, players are committing to having a responsible commercial communication, and are therefore looking to have all the tools in hand to act consciously towards their customers.
