Wine in Moderation spreads positive messages during quarantine

With the Coronavirus impacting lives worldwide and people responsibly staying at home during lockdown, Wine in Moderation launched a social media campaign to share its core message during those difficult times. The campaign ‘’Cheers! Tips to enjoy a glass of wine while keeping safe‘’ embraced the Wine in Moderation tagline with posts encouraging to Choose when and how we drink our wine, Share wine with our loved ones (even online), with our meals and with water, and taking Care to drink moderately, while following safety measures.

WiM Association Board nominates Nadia Frittella as new Secretary General to lead the Wine in Moderation Programme

The Board of Administrators is delighted to announce the appointment of Nadia Frittella as Secretary General of the WiM Association, following an extensive recruitment process that generated 67 applicants from many backgrounds. Ms. Frittella will assume the new role as of 1st July 2020.

Popular German TV host joins the Wine in Moderation movement as WiM Supporter
June 2020

Günther Jauch, a well-known German TV host, has joined the Wine in Moderation movement as WiM Supporter with his winery “von Othegraven”. The Deutsche Weinakademie counts around 700 WiM Supporters around the country, among which wineries, wine writers, wine professionals; all strongly committed to sharing a message of moderation and responsibility while offering a responsible wine experience to their visitors.

Wein ist Kult “Wine is cult! – a book about the evolution of Drinking Patterns by Dr. Rudolf Nickenig
June 2020

The evolution of drinking patterns in our societies is the main topic of Dr. Rudolf Nickenig’s latest book “Wine is cult! ("Wein ist Kult!)”. Born in a winemaking family and with a PhD in nutrition, Dr. Nickenig shares his extensive knowledge about the consumption of wine, the history of wine and alcohol policy to address the important topic of wine in society and its ever-changing reputation. He examines wine consumption and how it relates to young people, women, seniors, physical activity, meals, etc. while always referring to the guidelines for a responsible consumption of wine advised by “Wine in Moderation”. The Wine in Moderation brand also made the book where the logo is present.

Does the source of funding of epidemiological studies on wine/alcoholic beverages and health affect their results?

Whether or not the source of funding of a study automatically leads to bias in its reporting and interpretation of results is an important topic. When assessing the relation between the consumption of alcoholic beverages and health outcomes, there is the argument that funding of research by the alcoholic beverage industry can lead to sponsorship bias.
