10 Outubro 2017 - 01 Janeiro 1970

Today will mark the release of the shortlisted entries of this year’s Born Digital Wine Awards. Sponsored by Wine in Moderation, the body that aims to inspire healthy lifestyles and well-being, and to contribute to the reduction of alcohol related harm, the awards recognise high-quality journalism, photo and video promoting the culture of wine.

Following an initial assessment, a panel of international judges chaired by Richard Siddle, then judged the 130 entries that qualified for the semi-finals. Entries were accepted for five categories: Best Editorial article, Best Investigative article, Best Tourism article with a wine focus, Best Wine Video and Best Wine Photo. A sixth award, the Responsibility prize, will be given to the entry which best addresses sustainability and reflects the principles of responsible communication. Stylianos Filopoulos of Wine in Moderation said, “Wine in Moderation is proud to support the Born Digital Wine Awards for the third year in a row, to reward good and responsible wine content, placing the importance of a sustainable wine culture at the forefront.

short-listed entries for each category will be released on the Born Digital Wine Awards website and social media channels over the coming days. The top three winners, who will receive 500 euro, 250 euro and 100 euro, will be announced in November via an online video awards ceremony.

The competition opened on 1st June, this year accepting material written in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Greek, and accepted over 310 entries by closure on 10th July. This marked a 22% increase in submissions on the previous year confirming the awards’ significance amongst the world’s wine-focused journalists. The awards not only seek to reward good quality, creative and original pieces of work but are also essential in highlighting more recent writers, videographers and photographers that arrived into the sector, and diffusing their work to a larger audience.
