“The greatest wine? The one that you will remember.”: Wine in Moderation announces the second annual international Wine in Moderation Day to promote moderate & responsible drinking

PRESS RELEASE - Brussels, 05/11/2024 – Building on the success of last year’s inaugural experience, Wine in Moderation is happy to announce the second annual international Wine in Moderation Day, which will take place around the world on November 8th. This global initiative continues with the campaign theme: “The greatest wine? The one that you will remember aimed at encouraging responsible and moderate wine consumption.

On 8 November, wine lovers worldwide are invited to join in raising awareness of the importance of enjoying wine responsibly. The Wine in Moderation Day is organised by the WiM Association and aims to engage consumers and wine professionals across various touchpoints, fostering a deeper appreciation for the culture and history of wine while encouraging mindful drinking choices.

The core message remains unchanged: wine culture is about savouring the experience and knowing how to avoid excess. The campaign emphasizes that the true enjoyment of wine comes from creating memorable moments and fostering moderation, as captured in the phrase: “The greatest wine? The one that you will remember.

This year’s campaign will once again include a series of events and promotional activities coordinated by our National Coordinators and Supporters across different nations, regions, and localities. Each country will decide how to organise its day around the same campaign with the aim to educate consumers on the importance of responsible drinking while celebrating wine’s rich cultural heritage. Activities will include, digital communication, events, press conference, training, etc.

Sandro Sartor, President of Wine in Moderation, commented: “After last year’s successful first edition, we are thrilled to renew this important campaign with the second edition of the Wine in Moderation Day. Our goal is to reinforce our long-standing mission of empowering wine professionals and consumers to make responsible choices. Even though we encourage moderation all-year around and want all our consumers to remember this every time they enjoy a glass of wine, we like the idea to celebrate the concept of responsible drinking on a single day: understanding and appreciating wine in a way that enhances the experience and creates lasting memories – that you can remember. We encourage everyone to join us in spreading this message of moderation and responsibility.”

Add quote from national coordinator to provide more information about the actions planned in the country & explain why this movement is so significant.

The campaign will run across the second week of November, peaking on 8 November, with each participating country organising unique events around the campaign.
