For this year’s edition, the 18th Master of Port competition will be carrying once more the Wine in Moderation logo and encouraging moderate and responsible consumption.
Organised by the French Federation for Aperitif Wines, the Master of Port is a prestigious event that crowns the excellence of Sommeliers and Port wine. A first questionnaire on the knowledge of Port Wine will be submitted to the sommelier candidates during the Regional Selection Events to be held on Monday, April 29, 2019. The best candidates will then be invited to participate in the semi-finals and final, on Sunday 20 and Monday 21 October 2019 in Paris, which will cover theoretical and practical tests.
The winner of the 17th edition, and first woman raised to the rank of Master of Port, Julia Scavo will be present during the finals to salute the winner's performance and award the prize of the 18th Master of Port.
Fully established in the sector, the Master of Port is one of the main competitions for Sommeliers who undertake a number of tests on the knowledge of port wine: from geography to geology and history passing through legislation, trade and culture and of course the port wine appreciation in moderation.
