Deutsche Weinakademie was present at Intervitis Interfructa with the Wine in Moderation message to raise the wine sector’s awareness on the issues related to drink and driving.
After putting Wine in Moderation at the centre of the 38th OIV Congress in 2015 in Germany, the Deutsche Weinkademie gave it another go on the occasion of INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA 2016. The trade fair which took place in Stuttgart from November 26 to 30, 2016, is considered one of the leading international events of the sector.
With the aim of informing visitors about the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol, the Deutsche Weinakademie prepared a number of activities. The “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign – a campaign that appeals to the consumers not to drink when driving was largely present as well.
A driving simulator enabled visitors to experience driving under the influence of alcohol and realise the dangerous consequences it can have. A BAC calculator and other blood alcohol tests were also made available alongside information leaflets.
Last but not least, the Wine in Moderation message of enjoyment and appreciation was at the core of the Deutsche Weinakadamie’s booth, making a clear distinction between appreciating a quality product linked with gastronomy and conviviality, and just drinking an alcoholic beverage.
Held every two years, the fair attracts a great number of professional visitors and it is therefore the perfect occasion to promote the Wine in Moderation Programme. For the 2016 edition, more than 25,000 visitors from 57 countries attended the fair, with more than half being involved in the wine sector.
