The Wine Week organised from September 29th to October 5th took place in Buenos Aires and the most important cities of Argentina. The event, organised by Bodegas de Argentina and Glam Out, targeted young people between the ages of 25 and 35.
How to understand and enjoy what you drink is important, every activity of the Wine Week was thus organised under the guidelines of the Wine in Moderation-Art de Vivre programme to help make this event a healthy and successful one.
Not only were all activities organised during the Wine Week be endorsed by the Wine in Moderation- Art de Vivre programme but, several responsible consumption actions were also be prepared. Indeed, Bodegas de Argentina’s main goal is not only to promote wines but also to communicate a responsible behaviour. In this sense, each event had free mineral water, spittoons, leaflets and the WIM video developed for the occasion, to enjoy the wine week in a healthy way.
Three main activities were developed to encourage people to learn more about the culture of wine, and how to enjoy wine in moderation.
50 wineries, 50 restaurants, 50 wine shops, two wine sessions in bars and a closed wine party were some of the activities that took place during La Semana del Vino.
Wineries: 50 wineries from Buenos Aires and the most important cities of Argentina, participated in the biggest wine tasting of Argentina. For the first time ever, 50 wine shops around the country held a simultaneous tasting the same day at the same time, with the same protocol. For those unable to attend, a local sommelier Mariano Braga, expert in virtual tastings, organised the same activity on Twitter, allowing consumers to participate also from their homes.
Restaurants: During the wine week, 50 restaurants offered a special tasting menu marriage with three different wines.
Wine sessions: Bearing in mind that the wine week targeted young people, a wine tasting tour was also organized in two different bars with special DJ sets, videos prepared for the occasion and gastronomy – because a glass of wine should always be accompanied by food. The tour allowed participants to taste different types of wines with different intensities, flavours and styles.
On top of that, an App called Wine Like, especially developed for this event, was available on the App Store and on Google Play. The latter not only allowed participants to live tweet, they also had the opportunity to save information on every wine that they tested and vote for their favourite wines. These likes formed a ranking of top rated wines in real time, enabling the app users to track the most popular labels.
In addition, people had the opportunity to enjoy a Wine Cocktails Tour in ten of the most important bars of Buenos Aires. The participating bars promoted “the wine cocktail” of the week as part of the wine week.
