The Wine & Law Program joins Wine in Moderation and becomes the first academic entity to join WiM association as an Observer.
Hosted by the University of Reims and located in the heart of Champagne, the University of Reims Law School aims to enhance the legal study and research of wine law and will thus be looking to contribute to the important work carried out by Wine in Moderation by advising on the protection of the Wine in Moderation trademark, but also by discussing the issues related to digital consumer information on wine, health and low risk patterns of consumption.
Theodoros Georgopoulos, Director of the Wine & Law Program says “The Wine & Law Program - A Jean Monnet Chair, of the University of Reims is particularly honoured to be the first academic program to joining Wine in Moderation and become Observer in the WiM Association. Committed to academic excellence and educational innovation in the field of regulation for wine at the international scale, we strongly believe that this partnership will be mutually beneficial. Common educational actions and the organisation of a Law Clinic are among the first joint ventures of this partnership. By all means, there is much more to come in the near future.”
Stylianos Filopoulos, Director of the WiM Association, added “Wine in Moderation has always been endorsed by the academic world and many partnerships have been developed at national level. We are extremely happy that the Wine & Law Program - a Jean Monnet Chair has recognised the efforts and the importance of the programme and decided to take a step further by joining as Observer. We are honoured by this vote of trust from the University of Reims and we are looking forward to working together to generate knowledge and competencies for a sustainable wine culture and business.”
The General Assembly of the WiM Association unanimously welcomed the Wine & Law Program during its meeting that took place on 28 June 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden.
