Online Wine in Moderation campaign for Wim

August - October 2018

With the aim to bring Wine in Moderation closer to the attention of Dutch consumers, KVNW launched a new online campaign last August. Every 2 weeks a post will be published on Facebook to raise awareness by focusing on wine and food events and increase engagement by providing practical wine tips through animations.

3rd UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism

UNWTO Hails Wine Tourism as an approach to Sustainable Rural Development

06 - 07 September 2018

UNWTO called for wine tourism to be made part of national tourism and rural development policies at the 3rd UNWTO Wine Tourism Conference in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova (6-7 September 2018). The two days of discussions engaged experts from 30 countries and addressed UNWTO’s priority of enhancing tourism’s socioeconomic benefits, looking at specific segments like wine tourism. Wine in Moderation was also present to add the topic of responsible drinking in the sustainable development of wine businesses.

Port Wine Day 2018

The Port Wine Day – a celebratory event

21 September 2018

For its fifth edition, the Port Wine Day, which took place on September 10th, gathered the best Port producers to present their best wines and welcomed over 5000 visitors. The Port Wine Day Sunset Party was home to a number of additional Wine in Moderation actions. AEVP disseminated the “Do you know how to be moderate” campaign collectible postcards, with fun phrases, attractive colours and Pop Art inspired images, and also cup bases with a QR Code which leads to the website, where tips and drinking guidelines can be consulted. 2018 WHO Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health

21 September 2018

The WHO Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health for 2018 which was published last 21 September covers WHO’s latest data set on the consumption of alcohol globally, regionally, and at country level; health consequences of alcohol consumption; and policy responses at national level. This report also includes country profiles for Member States and appendices with statistical annexes and data sources; and is the last report expected before the expiry of the Global Strategy to Reduce the Harmful Use of Alcohol in 2020.
