Pirandello: his passion for wine

28 June 2017 - 28 June 2017
Location: Rome, Italy
Organizer: Unione Italiana Vini - UIV

Country: Italy

The Istituto di Studi Pirandelliani, a cultural institute of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism, will be organising an event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello, the Italian dramatist, novelist, poet and writer. This event will be held under the patronage of Unione Italiana Vini and Wine in moderation.

A number of theatre, music and dance acts will be performed in the house where Luigi Pirandello lived the last three years of his life; and during the evening, actors will improvise some passages from the famous book “Short Stories for a Year” (“Novelle per un anno”) on the topic of wine; linking this important national beverage to culture, literature and art.

Following a reception in the garden and a greeting by Paolo Petroni, President of the Institute, a video-mapping will be shown on the external façade of the villa (“Ombre pirandelliane”) as closing event of the evening.

This event is the illustration of the deep interconnexion of wine with culture and further shows why wine is referred to as a cultural product rather than an alcoholic beverage.

Attendees are kindly asked to confirm their participation by calling Istituto di Studi Pirandelliani at the following number +39 06 44291853.
