It was in the occasion of the WiM Spring meetings, that Wine in Moderation members gathered in Sweden to discuss the challenges lying ahead and hold its biannual general assembly.
Invited by the Swedish National Coordinator, Munskänkarna, the WiM members had the opportunity to learn more about the various great activities developed by the Swedish consumer wine club (education, communication, etc.) but also to get to know the local actors.
A meeting with the state-owned company Systembolaget was also organised, offering the possibility to visit their premises and get a better understanding of their objectives when it comes to sustainability and healthy lifestyles. WiM Association had already been invited by Systembolaget in the past where it had taken part in a dialogue with Systembolaget’s External Board of Directors, for an open and broad discussion on public health issues and the Wine in Moderation Programme, together with MEP Giovani La Via.
Munskänkarna is the largest non-profit association for wine education and wine tasting and has over 25,000 members. The consumer club joined the WiM Association early 2016 opening the way to a lot of firsts: first consumer club to join the movement and embody the message of moderation, but also first country from Scandinavia to take part in the adventure. Munskänkarna is the national contact point of the Wine in Moderation programme, responsible for the planning, coordination and accountability of WiM in Sweden.
