“Let’s take measure of life” – the second edition of a week dedicated to a moderate consumption of alcohol, diet and exercise

21 July 2014 - 25 July 2014
Location: Porto, Portugal
Organizer: Sogrape Vinhos

Country: Portugal

As part of the Wine in Moderation-Art de Vivre programme and its commitment to the Alcohol and Health National Forum, Sogrape Vinhos, S.A. held the 2nd edition of its annual week “Let’s take measure of life” highlighting the need for moderation in the consumption of alcohol, diet and exercise.

From the 21st to the 25th of July, Sogrape Vinhos employees experienced a week different than usual, filled with healthy activities and new useful information on various topics.

Actions included activities associated to physical exercise, with many people taking part in the daily walks through the gardens of the facilities, or fitness classes with a personal trainer – the distribution of information materials was also an essential part of this year’s edition.

To measure the awareness about the levels of alcohol consumption of Sogrape Vinhos employees, two surveys were distributed with the aim of tracking the evolution of answers - one at the beginning of the week and one at the end of the week. The results were overall quite positive as the second survey showed significant improvements, mainly in responses related to the guidelines of low-risk consumption.

In order to encourage the employees’ participation to the various activities and arouse their creativity, a contest was created to find the "best idea to communicate Wine in Moderation-Art de Vivre". The contest which offered prizes for presenting innovative alternatives to expand the WIM programme hasn’t found a winner yet.

All employees of Sogrape Vinhos received a bag with a book, a pen and Wine in Moderation-Art de Vivre leaflets.

These initiatives aim at raising awareness on the moderate consumption of wine, and draw people’s attention on the importance of physical exercise and a healthy diet.
