The article, which focused on the Mediterranean diet, explained the numerous benefits of this diet and the advantages of a moderate consumption of red wine. The journalist also listed the major characteristics of the Mediterranean diet as they were presented by Prof. Ramon Estruch during the last Wine Information Council conference* organised in November.
Prof. Estruch provided in fact evidence that the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases was reduced by 30% when using extra virgin olive oil, eating fish, cereal, nuts and consuming moderate levels of (red) wine with meals.
