After two years and numerous meetings, the VET Art de Vivre Partnership Programme ended on 30 September 2014, delivering among others, 3 proposals on training modules for wine, health and responsible consumption specifically aimed at oenologists, sommeliers and physicians.
The VET-Art de Vivre Partnership Programme, launched in August 2012, is a Leonardo da Vinci Partnership programme funded by the European Commission. The focus of this partnership project was Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the area of wine, health and social aspects with the aim of answering the following questions:
Alcohol, Health and Society is indeed a complex topic with huge cultural diversity, a large number of mobilities was thus focused on exchanging knowledge and experience in understanding how to best approach this complexity and diversity and consequently present them in the context of the programme.
The Partnership worked towards:
1. Building an in depth & joint analysis at EU level on market issues such as: consumption patterns, main problems, identifying professionals groups to better help communicating moderate wine consumption, etc.
2. Assessing national job profile description for the identified key professional groups, including references & gaps in terms of necessary skills & competences.
3. Mapping both informal & formal VET innovative ways and create a database of good practices to support corresponding TNA & ECVET recommendations.
As a result, a Market Training Needs Analysis Reports (MTNA), reviewed and commented by experts, was created and is available on the Parternship website www.artdevvire-edu.eu. The MTNA Report enabled the Partnership to build an in-depth analysis at national and EU level, assess national job profile descriptions for the key professional groups that had been identified, including references and gaps in terms of necessary skills & competences, and map both formal and informal VET innovations.
The knowledge gained by drafting the MTNA reports helped the Partnership define the necessary skills, knowledge and competences needed by the wine-related professionals to tackle alcohol-related harm and promote moderation and responsibility; enabling thus the development of a VET framework proposal with three different proposed training modules.
These proposed comprehensive training modules which have been linked with existing training references and innovative VET approaches list the expected hours of total learning, learning outcomes, delivery and assessment methods, types of reading list, minimum formal qualifications and experience required to deliver this module for the profession of Sommelier (post-secondary education), EQF 3-5, Oenologist (tertiary education) EQF 5-7, and Medical Doctor (tertiary education) EQF 6-8.
Having established concrete proposals, the Partnership has initiated the necessary dialogue to introduce and recognise these skills at both formal & informal level, national and EU Vocational Education and Training in accordance with EQF & ECVET. A number of events, meetings, conference aimed at experts and a larger audience have taken place to exchange ideas and disseminate the Partnership’s results and tools.
The VET-Art de Vivre Partnership Programme, which brought together 9 different actors of both the wider wine value chain and the Vocational Education and Training (VET) area, from 7 countries, not only brought the Partners of the programme together, it has managed to become a reference and a focal point, bringing together a number of other relevant key stakeholders especially from the VET sector to consider and use the tangible results of the programme.
