Pau Roca was elected in the frame of the 16th General Assembly held in Punta del Este (Uruguay) and becomes the 10th Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) succeeding to Jean Marie Aurand as from January 1st, 2019.
Mr. Roca has been actively involved with the OIV, a member of the Spanish delegation since 1996, and having served as the President of the Law and Consumer Information Experts Group.
At the head of the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) since 1992, Pau Roca has also been a leading figure for the Wine in Moderation programme in Spain (see video). During his time at the head of the Federation, a number of important actions have been developed such as the campaign “Quien Sabe Beber, Sabe Vivir” or the implementation of self-regulation for the Spanish Wine Sector, putting social responsibility and the Wine in Moderation Programme at the forefront in Spain.
Wine in Moderation warmly congratulates Mr. Roca for this election and looks forward to continuing working closely with the OIV for encouraging sustainable business practices including the addition of information and training on moderate and responsible drinking in professional education, etc.
Based in Paris, the OIV is composed of 47 Member States; WiM Association has been an Observer since 2015.
