On 17 April, FIVS signed an MOU with WiM at the Brussels Warwick Hotel during the concluding reception of FIVS’s 2018 Global Trade Policy Conference. FIVS thus formalised its long-standing cooperation with the WiM association and became a Wine in Moderation Associated Partner.
Over the past several years, both international associations have worked collaboratively to advance the wine sector’s sustainability goals. These efforts have included promoting the development of alcohol beverage social responsibility programmes around the world.
FIVS President Greg Hodson, commented, “I am so pleased that FIVS and WiM are entering into a more formal partnership today. We have worked with WiM over several years and have grown in our understanding of its objectives and in our admiration for the outcomes of its work. I also want to congratulate WiM on its tenth anniversary. Through all of those years, WiM has truly been tireless in seeking to promote responsible consumption and a sustainable wine culture.”
Stylianos Filopoulos, Director of the WiM Association, congratulated FIVS for its impressive growth in recent years and its focus on sustainability and further stated, “It is our privilege and obligation to deliver a sustainable wine culture that will inspire well-being and healthy lifestyles. We are therefore delighted to formalise a long-standing relationship with FIVS, based on respect and complementarity, and we look forward to continue working together for the sustainability of our sector and of our societies.”
This newly signed MOU aims at coordinating actions in the area of social aspects, and contemplates sharing information, promoting educational efforts and supporting the growth and effectiveness of the two organisations in this very important area.
