PRESS RELEASE: The new WIM website (www.wineinmoderation.com) will provide relevant information to consumers and stakeholders, and marks the second year anniversary of the WiM Association. The creation of the WiM Association in November 2011 took the commitment of the wine sector to fight alcohol-related harm to a second phase.
As part of the second year anniversary celebration, WiM Association organised its annual event at the Museum of Musical Instruments (MIM) in Brussels on 26 November 2013. This exclusive event brought together senior representatives of, authorities, scientific bodies, various associations, and companies for the presentation of the new Wine in Moderation communication platform as well as to learn about WIM’s latest achievements.
Today, WiM Association is rapidly growing outside of the EU geographical borders establishing the Wine in Moderation programme as the global wine sector social responsibility movement. Despite difficult economic conditions, the wine filière has remained committed to building on the recognised success of Wine in Moderation through its members and has continued working towards safeguarding the place of wine in its gastronomic and cultural heritage.
Wine in Moderation is a widely recognised programme. Mr. Paolo De Castro, Chairman of Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Parliament stated: “The wine sector makes an invaluable economic, social, agricultural and environmental contribution to our societies and is a vivid part of the European Cultural and Culinary Heritage.
In 2008 the European Wine Sector with its commitment to the European Alcohol and Health Forum successfully took up the challenge to contribute in the reduction of harm from the abusive use of alcohol, safeguarding and enhancing moderate and responsible wine drinking as a social norm; paying such high attention to wine and the way to consume it is also extremely important to helping the Agricultural sector in maintaining high attention to wine qualities and the consumers’ experience.
Today we pay tribute to the Wine in Moderation-Art de Vivre Programme not only for its great achievements in informing and educating consumers and wine professionals, but also for setting the example to the rest of the world and making this European programme a global reference.”
The new dynamic website (www.wineinmoderation.com) that was launched during the event, offers a host of new comprehensive information on the culture of wine, the concept of moderation, the Wine in Moderation commitment and its growing movement. A modern WiM newsletter, WiM TV channel and fresh visuals are also prominently featured on the new website adding dynamism, and converging a wealth of information on one single platform.
For this second anniversary celebration, WiM was proud to have the support of the Wine in Moderation programme associated partner the European Container Glass Federation - FEVE and the consumer platform Friends of Glass: “Glass and Wine have the same cultural heritage and share the same values - states Stefan Jaenecke, President of FEVE. Friends of Glass and Wine in Moderation give high priority to consumers’ health and quality of life. Providing them with pure and original products, well protected and not polluted by anything is key. We want to allow consumers enjoying their life in a safe environment while they are surrounded by rush and distraction.”
