A toast to the past with an eye on the future: George Sandeman's message to Wine in Moderation

A toast to the past with an eye on the future: George Sandeman's message to Wine in Moderation

Taking advantage of this edition of the Wine in Moderation Newsletter – the last before the completion of my mandate as President of this great movement - I wanted to spend a moment reflecting on where Wine in Moderation is today.

Since the initiative was launched in 2008, it has been the work and dedication of many people to make WINE IN MODERATION what it is today. A named few, like Marie Christine Tarby, Rudolf Nickenig, José Ramon Fernandez, Lamberto Gancia, Federico Castellucci, Pau Roca and Susanna Garcia Dolla, are joined by many others, all of whom left a mark which is indelibly integrated into the DNA of the Wine in Moderation Program.

With the creation, in 2011, of the WiM Association to manage the program, Stelios Filopoulos led and consolidated the program, expanding it to Latin America and establishing Wine in Moderation as an integral part of the sustainability culture of wine through moderate consumption and the link to a healthy Mediterranean style diet.

The new Brand strategy was initiated after completing a strategic review of WINE IN MODERATION in 2019, launching a new inclusive communication message of “Choose, Share, Care” - so applicable to wine!

The people change, but the vision remains strong, the purpose clear and the mission unwavering. Under the leadership of our new Board, Wine in Moderation will achieve great growth and success!

As a penultimate word, I’d like to thank my fellow Board Members, Ursula Fradera and Noelie Genevey, my friend Stelios, and all those who have contributed to make Wine in Moderation the movement which it is.

Finally, a special word of thanks to Nadia Frittella, with best wishes to her for great success!
