Congratulations to the new OIV President and Commissions Presidents

A renewed office for the OIV

Member states of the OIV met for the 13^th General Assembly in Mainz which took place on 10 July 2015 and elected the new OIV President for a term of 3 years: Prof. Dr. Monika Christmann was elected as the successor of Claudia Inés Quini.

Unanimously elected by the States present, Prof. Dr. Christmann has been involved with the OIV for more than 20 years. Prof. Dr. Christmann is research professor of oenology at Geisenheim University, and has been Chair of the Oenology Committee and Vice President of OIV.

George Sandeman commented: “WIM would like to warmly congratulate Prof. Dr. Monika Christmann on her election as new OIV President and also thank Claudia Inés Quini for her successful presidency for the last three years.”

In her new position, Prof. Dr. Monika Christmann will be surrounded by a new office as the General Assembly also elected:

• President of the Viticulture Commission: Benjamin Bois (France)
• President of the Oenology Commission: Luigi Moio (Italy)
• President of the Economy and Law Commission: Tony Battaglene (Australia)
• President of the Safety and Health Commission: Nuria Garcia Tejedor (Spain)
• President of the Sub-Commission of Methods of Analysis: Ondrej Mikes (Czech Republic)
• President of the Sub-Commission and unfermented grape products: Luis Peres de Sousa (Portugal)
